I can’t remember such a sad Thursday morning as this one. In between 2 lessons at Nokia Institute of Technology, a guy told me on the lift about the massacre that had occurred earlier this morning at a public school in Rio de Janeiro. I couldn’t believe what had happened and searched for more information online. As I was in a taxi going to another school, I read about the massacre and that 12 kids had been killed.
A massacre in a school or university had never happened in Brazil, so this seemed unreal at first. When I got to the language school where I work and looked at my 11-14 year-old kids, I couldn’t believe that a human being was able to do something like that.
It’s a very sad Thursday for me and for all teachers in Brazil.
I send my condolences to all the families who lost their loved ones and to all the kids who were involved in this terrifying incident.
